Map of My Heart | A Valentine’s Day Art Project for Kindergarten

My students made maps of their hearts!  This is a charming project that gives you a window into the lives of your students.

First, they drew a large heart and then inside the heart they included things or people that were important in their lives.   They used permanent markers to draw and then watercolor paints to color in the heart.

I start by reading the book The Shape of My Heart! (Amazon Affiliate link used) It is a very lovely book.

A colorful heart-shaped drawing, titled "Map of My Heart," features birds, children, and handwritten words like "panting," "soah," and "swimming." Smaller drawings and "Love Rina" fill the corners in true 1st Graders' style.
A heart-shaped drawing titled "Map of My Heart" features the word "Family," a stick figure, a tree, a chair, a ladder, "Harry Potter," and whimsical doodles—perfect for creative 1st graders.
A hand-drawn heart featuring doodles and words like "captin underpants," "family," "fun," and various small icons, along with a playful header reading "Map of My Heart," on a pink background.
A 1st grader's drawing with a heart, colorful blobs, and images including flowers, a rainbow, a butterfly, and various hobbies, creating a charming map of their heart.
A colorful heart-shaped "Map of My Heart" drawing divided into sections labeled with favorites like pizza, ice cream, books, animals, friends, and hobbies—perfect as a Map Activity for 1st Graders with simple illustrations.
