Why Art Teachers Look Forward to Going Back to School

Why Art Teachers Look Forward to Going Back to School

There are still five more days to enter the back to school giveaway!  I will announce the randomly selected winner on August 22. What are teachers looking forward to most about starting a new year?   I picked a selection of the answers teachers gave when asked this question. 1.  Carrie:  “The best part of going back to the classroom is seeing all of the kids. It’s all about them and allowing them the opportunity to explore, create, imagine, and … Read more…

Summer Art Making!

We went to Saugatuck, Michigan last week (bet you didn’t know that, because I pre-scheduled blog posts for that time.  You really should be careful what information you give out when you are leaving town. You don’t want to come back to a ransacked house!)  Anyways, we were gone for about 5 days and went to the Indiana Dunes and stayed in a cabin in Saugatuck.  We went with my brothers, nieces/nephews and my parents. Art Book for Kids Review: Too Much Glue

Art Book for Kids Review: Too Much Glue

I was sent a free copy of this new children’s book to review and share with you.  It is called Too Much Glue, written by Jason Lefebvre and illustrated by Zac Retz. It is a very cute story of a boy who uses TOO MUCH GLUE on his artwork in art class, does a flying jump into the puddle and gets stuck there. What I love about the book: It’s a unique story, I have not seen a story like … Read more…

Rainbow Fish! with Kindergarten

Rainbow Fish! with Kindergarten

At the end of the school year, my kindergarten art class made some really colorful fish after reading the book Rainbow Fish . The students drew their fish on large posterboard (these were BIG fish).  Then, they cut out paper pieces (I encouraged them to cut circles) from a variety of patterned and foil papers. Then, some of the kids chose to use paint dotters to add additional color. I I did this project again, I would have the kids … Read more…

Art Journaling with Kids

Art Journaling with Kids

Hello! I decided to open a Teachers Pay Teachers shop to sell some resources.  My shop has only a few items and I will still continue to share lots and lots of ideas here on my blog. For many years I have been really interested in art journaling and I wanted to write some E-books about ways you can incorporate mixed media and art journaling techniques in the classroom.  It is a great way for regular classroom teachers to combine … Read more…
