Dot Artwork by Kindergarteners

Abstract Dot Artwork featuring concentric circles in pink, red, blue, and purple, with colorful dots and playful splotches scattered on a white background—perfect inspiration for art projects by kindergarteners.

This is one of my favorite lessons and is a great way to start off the year.  Many of you have seen the book The Dot (Amazon Affiliate link used, goes to support the costs of this blog) and this lesson is inspired by that book.

Abstract dot artwork features various sized colorful circles overlapping on a white background, creating a vibrant and playful composition akin to the creativity often seen in kindergarteners.

The kindergarteners start by tracing lids on colored paper and cutting out the circles.  They are glued on to paper.  This is a good first project to gauge skill levels for cutting, tracing and gluing.  Emphasize neatness, overlapping and layering.

This abstract artwork showcases colorful dots and circles of various sizes on a white background, ideal for art projects or inspiring young kindergarteners.

During the next class period, the kindergarteners use markers to add dots to their picture.

Finally, use paint dotters to stamp additional embellishment.

A colorful collage with three large overlapping circles and scattered dots, featuring simple hand-drawn shapes and lines on each circle—a playful example of dot artwork perfect for kids art or kindergarten art.

I love how the pictures all turn out so different, even though they are just composed of dots and circles.
