Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving with the Peanuts gang!:

I searched for some fall art to inspire you and here are some gems that I found.

Norman Rockwell is always a winner.

A family sits around a dining table as an elderly woman places a large Thanksgiving turkey in the center, with an older man standing beside her and others smiling in anticipation.

I really love this folk art landscape by Walt Curlee.  This would be good to show students to demonstrate perspective and depth techniques.

How about this painting by Grandma Moses called Catching a Turkey?  Is it snowing yet by you?

A rural autumn scene with people raking leaves and tending to yards outside two white houses, surrounded by trees, fields, and hills in the background—capturing the warmth of a Thanksgiving gathering.

Janet Fish has some amazing still lifes, including this pumpkin one.

Do you have any fall or Thanksgiving themed famous art examples you want to share?

I’m digging these painted turkeys from Deep Space Sparkle.

A fun Thanksgiving arts and crafts project for kids that teaches boys and girls how to draw a turkey using easy techniques.:

I kind of like this nature-y turkey craft from Better Homes and Gardens.

Next year, I’m just going to set up a fall still life with things like pumpkins, scarecrows, gourds and see what the kids draw.  Here are some by Mrs. Knight’s Smartest Artists.

Here is a gratitude wreath project my students made a few years ago.

And one year we made cute colorful turkeys.
