Gridded Drawings– 5th/6th grade

This was another fun project at the end of the year.  The 5th/6th grade students marked off a one inch grid on their white paper.  Then, they chose a photo to enlarge and draw.  It could be a person (some chose a parent, others chose famous people) or it could be an animal.  I photocopied grids on to transparencies and these were taped on top of their photo.  Then, they drew their picture square by square.  There are many resources, … Read more…

Updating….

The first week of school we decorated our sketchbook covers… went over rules…. Now the classes are starting their first projects.. for example 2nd graders are making Andy Warhol style self-portraits, 1st graders are painting sunflowers… pics will be coming soon! Superheroes on Canvas

In my summer art class, we painted superhero canvases.  The kids decided what superhero they would like to be and drew these on dry wax paper with markers and colored pencils.  Then I used gel medium (on the backs of the paper) to adhere their images to the canvas board.  Then, they used paints to paint a background.  I love them!!  There is a link to the dry wax paper at the bottom of this post.  The ages of my … Read more…
