Doodled Drawings, Collages and Sculptures

It’s summer time!  This wrapped up my 10th year of teaching at my current school and 13 1/2 years teaching total.   The good news is that since I was so busy this year, I have a huge backlog of art projects to share with you.  I will probably write them all up this summer and then save some of them for the busy times next school year.

Doodle patterns are always good for focus and concentration. This project is also great for the end of the year, when the kids are hyped up and you want an easy project to settle down students and keep them focused.  My 5th/6th grade classes created these doodle drawings based on the idea from Craftwhack.

The circles gave the students a starting point, but many took the idea and ran with it in their own direction.

Isn’t this so creative?  It looks like some sort of tentacle-y monster.

The other art teacher at my school had the idea to turn these into sculptures.  So, we photocopied the pages and some of the kids made paper sculptures from their doodles.

Other kids traded some of their photocopies and made collages using their classmate’s designs.

I had books and handouts of Zentangles and patterns for the kids to get ideas from.
