Art Gift Ideas for a Child

The holidays are quickly approaching!  While you are thinking about the kids in your life, consider picking up some creative gifts.  Please don’t buy those cheap art supply kits with a lot of different cheap crayons, markers and colored pencils.  Spending a little more money will allow the child to experience quality art supplies and they will last longer.  Here are some of my favorites.

1.  Watercolor Paints- Splurge on a better quality set than Rose Art.  The child will stay interested in them longer if they are special.  These are the ones I love.

2. Markers

3.  Colored Pencils

Ohuhu Colored Pencils

I bought these for my own use.  The colors are vibrant and they are great pencils!

4. Gel Pens

A great set of gel pens with tons of colors!5. Create Your Own Collage Book

I bought this book because I was intrigued.  It is a fun book with lots of papers and ideas.  I think a kid in grades 2 and up would like it.

6.  Create Your Own Puzzle

When my daughter was in Kindergarten and 1st grade, she enjoyed making her own puzzles with these blank puzzles from Inovart.  Not super high quality, but they work!  Get some plastic baggies or you will have pieces everywhere.  You can find some with more pieces or different sizes.

7.  Make Your Own Soap

We bought this kit to learn how to make soap, then we bought extra materials to keep making more soap!

8.  Stickers are so much fun for art journals and collages.  You can get a subscription to a sticker club through Pipsticks.  These cute stickers are carefully curated and sent to your house each month.  I have subscribed to this for about a year and it’s been so fun to see what comes every month!  You can also buy individual packs.

mail for sticker lovers.

9.  Make Your Own Books

My daughter had a lot of fun creating her own little books with drawings and stories.  Here is one set we have used.

10.  Building Toys are always a hit.

We LOVE these magnetic tiles.  My kids have both spent hours and hours building with these.  Pretty much every day someone in my house has used these for the past 4 years.

11. Sculpey Oven Bake Clay

For the older kid who loves clay, but you don’t have a kiln.

12. Drawing Books

What else would you add to this list?  Share in the comments some of your fun creative gift ideas!
