Make a Magical Wand

Make a Magical Wand

Every so often, I host after school art classes.  I try to have some fun projects that I wouldn’t normally teach during the school day.  These magical wands were a hit with both the boys and girls who signed up for this class.

Steps to Make Magic Wand

Use dowel rods or natural sticks as the wand base.  Twist, tie, wrap and hot glue fabric, ribbons, feathers, pipe cleaners and colored tape around the stick.  Tie on flowers, add glitter glue and sequins and use Model Magic to sculpt a top for the wand.

The beauty of projects like this one is that there is no right or wrong way to make them.  Use your imagination and find bits and bobs around your house or classroom to put on your wand.

Use donated materials as well.  Ask parents and friends to donate leftover ribbons and fabrics to your classroom.magic wands art project 3

This boy made a spooky sorcerer’s wand.  As summer approaches, this might be a fun project to try with a summer camp or with your kids at home.
